Coalition Meets With Sen. Garagiola

Earlier this week, the Coalition met with the Sen. Rob Garagiola (D-Dist. 15), the State Senate's Deputy Majority Leader.
He outlined his proposal, which would:
1. Repeal the computer services sales tax.
2. Offset the repeal by shifting the portion of the recently increased sales tax that was dedicated to the Transportation Trust Fund back to the General Fund. Then replace the TTF revenue by increasing the gas tax by 3-4 cents on July 1, 2008, and again on July 1, 2009.
3. Establish a commission to study the impact of applying the sales tax to various services.
